Okay, I promise to blog more
I have been told by one of my readers--the one who's in Hanover--that if you don't blog often, people stop reading. Mea culpa. I hereby promise to blog more often, since my fans are clearly expecting it.
News for today: met a smart, nice Nigerian demographer who may be coming to Northwestern next year. He lives on Lekke Penninsula somewhere near Elsa Bishop. We talked about Lagos/Kano differences.
Long day, so this will be short, but I'm back, you all. W

I'm glad the Peanutfiend has returned.
I don't know any Nigerian demographers, but I'm sure they are nice. I do know that the Nigerian Parliament did the right thing quashing the President's bid for another term.
Yes indeed, says Peanutfiend, that showed a surprising amount of independence from Nigeria's Parliament. Obasanjo isn't a bad guy, but he needs to retire from office to let the democratic process demonstrate that it can work not just for him but for other candidates. Next time it will almost certainly be either a Northerner (Kano should be interesting) or someone from the far South (oil areas).
Well, it was a worthy experiment.
